"THE BRIDGE AT ANDAU": Idea and aim

"I cannot guess by what twists of history Hungary will regain her freedom. ....but I am convinced that in that happy day Hungarians from their new homes all over the world will send in their money to erect at ANDAU a memorial bridge.

It need not be much, as bridges go: not wide enough for a car nor sturdy enough to bear a motorcycle. It only be firm enough to recall the love with which Austrians helped so many Hungarians across the old bridge to freedom, only wide enough to permit the soul of a free nation to pass." An idea is taking shape.....

In 1992 the "SOCIETY FOR INTERNATIONAL COMMUNICATION -THE BRIGDE AT ANDAU" has been founded at ANDAU. As a leitmotif for the annual symposion which took place from 1992 – 1996. As a topic "Escape and Expulsion" had been chosen.

This topic was worked up on various levels: discussions, conversations, litarery works and art.

Artist from all parts of Europe created lots of sculptures.

The group tried to bind on one aim:

....man, not esteemed ones birth, nationality, colour of skin , culture and religion, even ones attitudes has the right to be accepted as an individual without any restrictions
